The purpose of this report is to enable Councillors, as the Footscray Cemetery Trust, to certify the financial abstract for the period 1 July 2007 – 30 June 2008.
BACKGROUND
The Trust has previously certified all outstanding financial abstracts to 30 June 2007.

Under Section 52(3) of the Cemeteries and Crematoria Act 2003, a cemetery trust must submit a report for each financial year to the Secretary of the Department of Human Services on, or before, 1 September in the following financial year. A Certified Statement of the Financial Abstract for the period 1 July 2007 to 30 June 2008, for approval by Council as Cemetery Trust, is attached.
RESOURCE IMPLICATIONS
The new cemetery fees were reported and approved at the Special Meeting of Council of 17 June 2008, to align the fee structure with comparable cemeteries in the region for the future sustainable management of the operation.
SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES 17 MARCH 2009 CONCLUSION
Provision of the financial abstract for the period 1 July 2007 – 30 June 2008, to the Department of Human Services, will meet the requirements of the Cemeteries and Crematoria Act 2003. OFFICER RECOMMENDATION/COUNCIL RESOLUTION: That Council certify the financial abstract for the Footscray Cemetery Trust for the period 1 July 2007 to 30 June 2008, as recommended by Council’s Principal Accountant.
