DIMETHYL FUMARATE (DMF) EMERGENCY BAN

The biocide dimethylfumarate, commonly known simply as DMF, is set to be prohibited in consumer products asof 1 May this year, while stocks of such products that are already placed or made available on the market on thatdate will have to be withdrawn, with recalls from consumers also becoming necessary.
BACKGROUND NOTES:
Since 2008, 25 RAPEX notifications have beenpublished for products containing dimethylfumarate for the below countries: Spain with 16notifications, France with 7 notifications, Finlandand Poland with 1 notification each. The list is stillgrowing. In December 2008, France adopted adecree banning the importation and placing on themarket of seating and footwear containing DMFfor 1 year. The French Decree also requires therecall of all seating and footwear which visiblycontains, or the packaging of which visiblycontains DMF. Limitation:
