MAYBOURNE (CONT'D O/S): but you might be able to hold the incriminating MAYBOURNE (CONT'D): over them and get Hammond reinstated. O'NEILL: I'm not leaving till I get what I came for. O'NEILL: Well, I was thinking about shooting you. MAYBOURNE: Kinsey's online activities connect him to NID actions over the last KINSEY: Hell, you've been back in time, forward in time--you've seen it all. KINSEY (CONT'D O/S): I just wonder how things'd turn out and I wonder how STARGATE SG-1--“SMOKE & MIRRORS” Episode#P662

STARGATE SG-1--“SMOKE & MIRRORS” Episode#P662
REPORTER: The assassination of Senator Kinsey has sent shock waves through Washington. With his party's National Convention just weeks away, the Senator was considered by many to be their most likely choice for CARTER: Sir, Senator Kinsey is dead. He was shot. JONAS: Yeah, it's been all over the news for three days. CARTER (O/S): It looks like it was a professional hit. CARTER (CONT'D): The shooter took him out from a hotel room across the street STARGATE SG-1--“SMOKE & MIRRORS” Episode#P662
TEAL'C (O/S): It is reasonable to assume that a man. TEAL'C (CONT'D): in Senator Kinsey's position would have a great many HAMMOND: I'm sorry to have to do this, but these men are here to escort you to HAMMOND (CONT'D O/S): From there you'll be flown to Andrews, and then turned over to the civilian authorities in Washington. HAMMOND: Colonel O'Neill is under arrest for the murder of Senator Kinsey. STARGATE SG-1--“SMOKE & MIRRORS” Episode#P662
O'NEILL: General, I've been on vacation. HAMMOND: I believe you, Jack, but for the moment, we're going to have to CARTER: There's no way Colonel O'Neill could've done this. HAMMOND: I'm aware of that, Major, but my hands are tied. JONAS: How could they possibly think that he's responsible? He wasn't even in MAJOR DAVIS (CONT'D): it looks like he was. HAMMOND: Major Davis is acting as liaison. HAMMOND (CONT'D O/S): between the Pentagon and the District Attorney. HAMMOND (CONT'D): He has a report for us. MAJOR DAVIS: This was taken from a security camera. STARGATE SG-1--“SMOKE & MIRRORS” Episode#P662
MAJOR DAVIS (CONT'D): in a hotel across the street from where the shooting occurred just a couple of minutes after it happened. MAJOR DAVIS (O/S): Now, the trajectory of the bullet. MAJOR DAVIS (CONT'D): indicates that the shot did in fact come from this hotel. MAJOR DAVIS: No, but based on this evidence, the FBI attained search warrants to search both the Colonel's house and his cabin. MAJOR DAVIS (CONT'D O/S): They didn't find anything, but one of the neighbors told them that they saw Colonel O'Neill. MAJOR DAVIS (CONT'D): dumping something down by the lake. They sent down MAJOR DAVIS: Ballistics match it with the bullet that killed Senator Kinsey. MAJOR DAVIS: Well, I don't know what else to say, sir. It's certainly no secret that CARTER: Oh, come on. They had a few run-ins. That's hardly a motive for JONAS (O/S): Okay, I've read the file on Kinsey. STARGATE SG-1--“SMOKE & MIRRORS” Episode#P662
JONAS (CONT'D): but it is a little vague. HAMMOND: The Senator was involved with a group of individuals who were unhappy with the way Stargate Command was being run. CARTER (O/S): They tried to blackmail General Hammond into resigning. CARTER (CONT'D): Colonel O'Neill found evidence connecting Kinsey to their illegal activities, and threatened to go public with it unless he got them to JONAS: So technically, Kinsey was protecting the SGC. CARTER: True, but I don't think he was very happy about it. JONAS: Still, that's not a motive to kill the guy. That's a motive to keep him alive. TEAL'C: Unfortunately, we can divulge none of this information to the civilian HAMMOND (CONT'D): in broad daylight, on a public street, in front of a dozen civilian witnesses. If we tried to shift this to a military court, it would be a political disaster for the current administration. STARGATE SG-1--“SMOKE & MIRRORS” Episode#P662
CARTER: With all due respect, sir, the current administration owes a lot to the HAMMOND: I'm aware of that, Major, as is the President. Unfortunately, there's nothing he can do for Colonel O'Neill at this time. HAMMOND (CONT'D O/S): On the other hand, I'm not a politician, which is. HAMMOND (CONT'D): why I'm suspending SG-1's off-world duties and assigning the three of you to get to the bottom of this. HAMMOND (CONT'D O/S): You have the full resources of this Command at your O'NEILL: I'm accused of a murder I didn't commit. How do you think I'm doing? JONAS: When are you supposed to get transferred to Washington? STARGATE SG-1--“SMOKE & MIRRORS” Episode#P662
TEAL'C: General Hammond has suspended our off-world duties in order that we Unfortunately, it's not going very well. TEAL'C (CONT'D): that places you at the scene of the shooting. O'NEILL: Look, Kinsey wasn't exactly my best buddy, and on occasion, I felt like beating the crap out of him, but I didn't kill him. JONAS: They somehow have a video that clearly places you in Washington, D.C., JONAS: We know you've been on secret missions before. We're not always privy O'NEILL (SNAPPING): I wasn't on a mission, Jonas. I was in Minnesota on STARGATE SG-1--“SMOKE & MIRRORS” Episode#P662
TEAL'C: Did you encounter anyone that can verify your story? O'NEILL: I was 20 miles away from the closest town, alone. That was the point. TEAL'C: Perhaps this is all part of an elaborate plan. TEAL'C (CONT'D O/S): and those responsible chose to act at a time. TEAL'C (CONT'D): when they knew you would have no alibi. CARTER: I checked the videotape to see if it had been doctored, but it appears to JONAS (O/S): So either that really is Colonel O'Neill. JONAS (CONT'D): or someone who happens to look exactly like him. TEAL'C: We have encountered duplicating technology before. CARTER (O/S): I was thinking the exact same thing. CARTER (CONT'D): but those mimic devices are under heavy guard. JONAS: Mimic devices? Someone want to fill me in? STARGATE SG-1--“SMOKE & MIRRORS” Episode#P662
HAMMOND: Three years ago, we had a foothold situation here at the SGC. Aliens gained control by using mimic devices to impersonate and then replace JONAS: Why haven't I heard about this before? HAMMOND: Because of the seriousness of the security breach, a decision was made to erase all mention of the incident from official records. JONAS: Well, where are these devices now? AREA 51 TECHNICIAN: We recovered 12 from the SGC. They're all stored here. CARTER: Has anyone been studying them recently? AREA 51 TECHNICIAN (O/S): We've all been focusing on the X-303. AREA 51 TECHNICIAN (O/S): There we go. All present and accounted for. STARGATE SG-1--“SMOKE & MIRRORS” Episode#P662
CARTER (CONT'D): All the mimic devices were switched. CARTER: The last recorded test of those devices was six months ago. It could JONAS: There has got to be some way that we can use this to clear you. O'NEILL: I don't think the alien technology defense is going to fly. JONAS: If I'm understanding this correctly, there is someone walking around out there that can make himself look exactly like you at the push of a button. CARTER: It's classified information, Jonas. CARTER: But we can use it to find the real assassin.maybe. END OF ACT ONE
STARGATE SG-1--“SMOKE & MIRRORS” Episode#P662
CARTER (O/S): Well, it's a two-part process. CARTER (CONT'D): First, you take somebody and pass them through a large scanning device, which then uploads their exact image into a CARTER (O/S): Exactly. Then you place that sequencer. CARTER (CONT'D): somewhere on your body and activate it, and you instantly take on the appearance of the person you scanned. CARTER: No, it's still at Area 51. We checked it out. JONAS: So whoever did this can only impersonate a limited number of people. CARTER: 12, to be precise, including Colonel O'Neill, Dr. Fraiser, and Daniel. STARGATE SG-1--“SMOKE & MIRRORS” Episode#P662
CARTER: The alien impersonating him was trapped in the gateroom along with several others. They activated some kind of self-destruct and blew CARTER (CONT'D): In case you're wondering, Teal'c and I were never scanned. CARTER: I've requested all the personnel files on everyone who had access to these devices. I'd like the two of you to check them out. CARTER: I'm going to Washington. I need to look up an old acquaintance. CARTER: Major Carter. I'm here to see Agent Barrett. AGENT BARRETT (O/S): Major Carter.I was wondering how long it would be AGENT BARRETT (CONT'D): Welcome to NID headquarters. JONAS: In three years, only eight people at Area 51 have had authorized access STARGATE SG-1--“SMOKE & MIRRORS” Episode#P662
JONAS: Most of them have been transferred to the X-303 project, so they're still JONAS: Killed in an automobile accident three weeks ago. TEAL'C: Given the circumstance, that would appear to be a highly unlikely AGENT BARRETT (O/S): What exactly are you implying here, Major? AGENT BARRETT (CONT'D): That the NID had a hand in the assassination of a CARTER: Very few organizations have the resources to pull off something like AGENT BARRETT: And the man accused of the crime happens to belong to one STARGATE SG-1--“SMOKE & MIRRORS” Episode#P662
AGENT BARRETT: Senator Kinsey was no friend of the Stargate Command. AGENT BARRETT (CONT'D): he tried to take you down more than once. CARTER: We don't engage in criminal activity, Agent Barrett, which is more than I AGENT BARRETT: If you're referring to the Prometheus incident, that was orchestrated by a handful of a rogue agents. CARTER (CONT'D O/S): You sat by and watched while the Goa'uld. CARTER (CONT'D): took over an entire town of innocent civilians. AGENT BARRETT: That was an officially sanctioned operation that would've succeeded if it wasn't for your interference. CARTER: Are you kidding me? Your agents were compromised. CARTER (CONT'D O/S): and your organization was about to be infiltrated. STARGATE SG-1--“SMOKE & MIRRORS” Episode#P662
AGENT BARRETT: Look, Major, the videotape. AGENT BARRETT (CONT'D O/S): of Colonel O'Neill clearly places him at the AGENT BARRETT (CONT'D): and the murder weapon was found near his cabin, AGENT BARRETT (CONT'D O/S): if you'll excuse me. AGENT BARRETT (CONT'D): I've got work to do. AGENT BARRETT: You know, it says here that by 2075, the Earth's oceans will be too warm to sustain most coral reefs, and once they're gone, the entire ecosystem of the planet will collapse. AGENT BARRETT: We spend all of our time trying to protect the world from the Goa'uld. Maybe we should worry a little more about protecting it from CARTER: What are we doing out here, Agent Barrett? STARGATE SG-1--“SMOKE & MIRRORS” Episode#P662
AGENT BARRETT: It's standard procedure to record all conversations that take place at NID headquarters. What I'm about to tell you, Major, nobody AGENT BARRETT: There's a cancer at the NID. AGENT BARRETT (CONT'D O/S): a shadow organization that operates outside the law. It's time they were exposed for who they really are. AGENT BARRETT: The Prometheus incident, that was the last straw. After that, I was called to the White House for an assignment. CARTER: What does this have to do with Colonel O'Neill? AGENT BARRETT: Senator Kinsey was working for me. AGENT BARRETT (CONT'D O/S): He was about to give me enough evidence. AGENT BARRETT (CONT'D): to bring down the entire leadership of the shadow CARTER: How did you convince him to do that? STARGATE SG-1--“SMOKE & MIRRORS” Episode#P662
AGENT BARRETT: Let's just say I know about a few of the skeletons in the AGENT BARRETT (CONT'D O/S): and it is an election year. AGENT BARRETT: I'll do whatever it takes to bring these people down, Major. AGENT BARRETT: As of this moment, the President, a few members of his staff, AGENT BARRETT: The smaller the operation, the less chance of it being AGENT BARRETT: You have no idea how far the corruption goes, Major. Not CARTER: Then you're taking a big risk talking to me. AGENT BARRETT: I need your help. Besides, I think there's more that you're not telling me. You've seen the evidence against Colonel O'Neill. What STARGATE SG-1--“SMOKE & MIRRORS” Episode#P662
CARTER: When you work with someone that long, you just know. AGENT BARRETT: No, there's something more than that. There's something CARTER: Your job requires you to be suspicious of everybody, even your co- workers. Where I come from, we trust each other with our lives every day. Maybe that's something you can't understand. AGENT BARRETT: Well, I guess it's never too late to learn. JONAS: When the mimic devices were first brought to Area 51, a team of eight scientists was assigned to study them. The Pentagon was hoping to be able to adapt the devices for use in the field. JONAS (CONT'D O/S): However, while the original holographic images that were JONAS (CONT'D): seemed to last indefinitely, those that were created by the scientists in the lab were only sustainable for three to four minutes at a time due to problems with electromagnetic interference. JONAS (CONT'D O/S): so the project was scaled back and five of the original JONAS (CONT'D): The remaining three were Dr. Singh, Dr. Healey, and this STARGATE SG-1--“SMOKE & MIRRORS” Episode#P662
JONAS (CONT'D O/S): They continued working on the devices for another six JONAS (CONT'D): Finally, the entire project was shut down, and Dr. Healey and Dr. Singh were transferred to the X-303 project. JONAS: He was supposedly killed in a car crash two days before the transfer was FRAISER: The body was burned beyond recognition. He was identified through dental records, but the coroner missed something. The toxicology report came back clean. No signs of any drugs or alcohol in the victim's blood. FRAISER: Well, Dr. Langham was epileptic. His condition required him to take FRAISER (CONT'D O/S): There should have been traces of those drugs in his TEAL'C: The dental records were falsified. The body recovered at the crash site STARGATE SG-1--“SMOKE & MIRRORS” Episode#P662
HAMMOND: So you're saying this Dr. Langham took the mimic device and JONAS: Or someone engineered it for him. FRAISER: Okay, are we suggesting, then, that this scientist shot Kinsey? JONAS: I doubt it. He didn't have any paramilitary training. TEAL'C: Perhaps Dr. Langham merely provided the mimic devices for a fee. FRAISER: But he can lead us to whoever was responsible. HAMMOND (O/S): I don't care what it takes. I want you to find. END OF ACT TWO
STARGATE SG-1--“SMOKE & MIRRORS” Episode#P662
AGENT BARRETT: The rifle used to kill Senator Kinsey was not the kind of thing you can pick up at your local sporting goods store. This is a one-stop shop for unregistered weapons. High-end merchandise, professional AGENT BARRETT (CONT'D): There's a good chance our shooter was here. CARTER: If you know they're selling illegal guns, why don't you shut them down? AGENT BARRETT: I allow them to operate in exchange for information. Sometimes you've got to cross the line, Major. You've just got to know LUTHOR (O/S): Agent Barrett. When are you going to get yourself a new suit? AGENT BARRETT: Black is good for any occasion. LUTHOR: Yeah, it's also thinning. Who's your friend? STARGATE SG-1--“SMOKE & MIRRORS” Episode#P662
CARTER: Major Samantha Carter, United States Air Force. AGENT BARRETT: We can talk in front of her. AGENT BARRETT: We want to know about a 700 with a customized breakdown CARTER: In all likelihood, the weapon you sold was used to assassinate a United AGENT BARRETT (CONT'D): a regular customer? CARTER: Did he look at any other weapons besides the 700? STARGATE SG-1--“SMOKE & MIRRORS” Episode#P662
LUTHOR: Yeah, as a matter of fact, he did. LUTHOR (O/S): A sound-suppressed revolver rifle. AGENT BARRETT: Has anybody handled it since? CARTER: There's one full set of prints and one partial on the second rifle, but CARTER (O/S): Well, assuming that full set matches our friend Leo, that would mean the partial belongs to the shooter. STARGATE SG-1--“SMOKE & MIRRORS” Episode#P662
AGENT BARRETT: The shooter probably won't have a criminal record. In fact, there's a good chance he may not exist on any database at all. CARTER: Except maybe NID personnel files. CARTER: You said it yourself, Agent Barrett--there's a cancer in your CARTER (CONT'D O/S): Kinsey was going to bring them down, so they had him CARTER (CONT'D): So did they hire an outside contractor or use one of their AGENT BARRETT: I'll check the files and call you in a couple of hours. AGENT BARRETT: Good call, checking for a second weapon. STARGATE SG-1--“SMOKE & MIRRORS” Episode#P662
TEAL'C: It is probable that Dr. Langham has assumed a new identity. JONAS: New name, new address, new social security number. FRAISER: He can't change his medical condition. TEAL'C (O/S): Do not many thousands of people in this country. TEAL'C (CONT'D): suffer from this affliction? FRAISER: Yes, but there's a wide range of treatments that vary from case to case. See, Dr. Langham was on a very specific combination of drugs, including Primidone and Carbamazepine, so we can access the national FRAISER (CONT'D O/S): and focus on new prescriptions written in the past three FRAISER (CONT'D): We then cross-reference that with age and gender, and we should be able to narrow down the field. CARTER (INTO PHONE): Have Teal'c and Jonas found anything yet? HAMMOND (O/S FILTERED): They have a lead on a missing scientist from Area STARGATE SG-1--“SMOKE & MIRRORS” Episode#P662
HAMMOND (CONT'D INTO PHONE): They think he may have been the one who CARTER (INTO PHONE): Well, if it turns out the shooter was NID, we should be able to track him using the fingerprints we found on the second rifle. HAMMOND (INTO PHONE): What about this Agent Barrett? Are you sure you CARTER (INTO PHONE): I don't know. I think so. HAMMOND (O/S FILTERED): You know you're not authorized to tell him about HAMMOND (CONT'D INTO PHONE): Technically, I shouldn't have even told CARTER (O/S FILTERED): I know, sir. I'm hoping it won't come to that. CARTER (CONT'D INTO PHONE): I'll keep you posted, sir. AGENT BARRETT: You were right. The prints match an NID agent. AGENT BARRETT (CONT'D O/S): named Mark Devlin. STARGATE SG-1--“SMOKE & MIRRORS” Episode#P662
MAN: Yeah, that's me. What's this about? TEAL'C (CONT'D): You are not the man we are looking for. JONAS: Sorry, I must have made a mistake. Have a good day. JONAS: Really? He looked familiar to me. STARGATE SG-1--“SMOKE & MIRRORS” Episode#P662
JONAS: No, wait, wait, wait. I know that guy. When I first came to Stargate Command, he was one of the airmen in the gate room. I'm positive. END OF ACT THREE
STARGATE SG-1--“SMOKE & MIRRORS” Episode#P662
JONAS: He's in a holding cell on level 16. HAMMOND: Well done. Has he said anything? JONAS: No, sir. We're letting him sweat, but he did ask for a lawyer. HAMMOND: That could be a problem. We're not exactly following proper JONAS: Sir, this guy stole top-secret material and he's an accessory to murder. TEAL'C: Dr. Langham is also the only one that can verify Colonel O'Neill's HAMMOND: Not necessarily. Major Carter and Agent Barrett are pursuing a lead that may take them to the real assassin. HAMMOND: I know how you feel. No one wants Colonel O'Neill back more than I do, but this is a delicate situation. I understand this man had some STARGATE SG-1--“SMOKE & MIRRORS” Episode#P662
TEAL'C: Dr. Langham was reluctant to accompany us back to the SGC. He HAMMOND: All I'm saying is we have to be careful. We're operating way outside our jurisdiction, and like it or not, this man has rights. TEAL'C (O/S): He will volunteer the information. DR. LANGHAM: Look, this is a waste of time. I've got nothing to say. DR. LANGHAM: Okay, yes, I took the mimic devices, I switched them with the fakes, but I didn't know what they were planning to do with them. DR. LANGHAM: What? You think I'm part of some kind of murder conspiracy? DR. LANGHAM: All right, I'll tell you what I know, but you have to promise me STARGATE SG-1--“SMOKE & MIRRORS” Episode#P662
JONAS: When you first switched the devices with the fakes, where'd you take DR. LANGHAM (CONT'D): They wanted me to take them myself, because they thought using a middleman would be too risky. DR. LANGHAM: They call themselves the Committee. They run the whole show. HAMMOND: You're looking at conspiracy to commit murder. DR. LANGHAM: I didn't know they were going to use the devices to kill anybody. They told me that they were going to analyze the technology for possible STARGATE SG-1--“SMOKE & MIRRORS” Episode#P662
DR. LANGHAM: You don't think money has anything to do with this? DR. LANGHAM (CONT'D O/S): In the last six months, there have been at least 10 DR. LANGHAM (CONT'D): directly to Area 51. I'm talking industrial chemicals, JONAS: So they're selling alien technology? DR. LANGHAM (CONT'D O/S): The members of the Committee aren't spies or DR. LANGHAM (CONT'D): they're businessmen. The rogue NID agents work for DR. LANGHAM (CONT'D O/S): They've got hundreds of millions invested. DR. LANGHAM (CONT'D): and they expect to make billions in return by incorporating alien advancements into their product lines. JONAS: I thought this was about protecting the planet. STARGATE SG-1--“SMOKE & MIRRORS” Episode#P662
DR. LANGHAM: Well, nobody said it had to be a non-profit business. HAMMOND: Give us the names, and we'll ensure your safety. DR. LANGHAM: Well, I'm going to need a few more details. You work for the Air Force. You don't have a witness protection program. HAMMOND (O/S): Well, if these people are as powerful. HAMMOND (CONT'D): as you say they are, there's probably nowhere on Earth you'd be safe. Fortunately, we have other options. AGENT BARRETT: All right, we need to talk. AGENT BARRETT (CONT'D O/S): Who else knows about this operation at AGENT BARRETT: Because we've got a leak, Major. STARGATE SG-1--“SMOKE & MIRRORS” Episode#P662
AGENT BARRETT: Agent Devlin was waiting for us. AGENT BARRETT (CONT'D O/S): That means somebody obviously tipped him CARTER: Not necessarily. Think about it. CARTER (CONT'D O/S): You used a computer to access those personnel files, CARTER (CONT'D): Maybe somebody tracked you. AGENT BARRETT: If they think we're dead, it may be our only advantage. CARTER: You trust me, you trust my team. CARTER (INTO PHONE): Sir, what's happening? CARTER: No, that's great news. Yes, sir. Understood. STARGATE SG-1--“SMOKE & MIRRORS” Episode#P662
CARTER: We've got the names of those responsible for the assassination. AGENT BARRETT: What's that supposed to mean? AGENT BARRETT: This assignment came from the White House, Major. If you don't tell me what I need to know, I'm going to have to make a phone call. You're the one who's always talking about trust. CARTER: The man who shot Kinsey was using a piece of alien technology. CARTER (CONT'D O/S): a device capable of creating a flawless holographic CARTER (CONT'D): in this case, a duplicate image of Colonel O'Neill. It was a perfect plan to get rid of Kinsey and the Colonel. STARGATE SG-1--“SMOKE & MIRRORS” Episode#P662
AGENT BARRETT: Wait a minute. Why have I never heard about this technology CARTER: We encountered the devices three years ago during a foothold CARTER (CONT'D O/S): It was a close one. Kinsey was trying to shut down the CARTER (CONT'D): so the whole thing was covered up by Presidential order. CARTER (CONT'D O/S): He's the one who smuggled the devices out. CARTER (O/S): They're on to us, Agent Barrett. CARTER (CONT'D): If we don't move fast, they're going to disappear. AGENT BARRETT: We need more than the testimony of one scientist who made STARGATE SG-1--“SMOKE & MIRRORS” Episode#P662
AGENT BARRETT: Senator Kinsey's not dead. He's in a coma. AGENT BARRETT (CONT'D O/S): We've got him under 24-hour guard. CARTER: Why the hell didn't you tell me? AGENT BARRETT: Because we needed to keep his condition a secret for his protection. If and when he regains consciousness, he'll be able to provide us with the information we need to bring these people down. CARTER: So we were both keeping secrets. AGENT BARRETT: That's the way the game's played. AGENT BARRETT (O/S): Anyway, the Pentagon's been informed. AGENT BARRETT (CONT'D): They're sending a man over to the hospital. Did I CARTER: Close enough. Who are they sending? STARGATE SG-1--“SMOKE & MIRRORS” Episode#P662
CARTER: There are 12 alien devices capable of mimicking specific individuals. MAJOR DAVIS: I've come to check on the Senator. END OF ACT FOUR
STARGATE SG-1--“SMOKE & MIRRORS” Episode#P662
COMMITTEE MEMBER #1: Agent Devlin. How did it go? COMMITTEE MEMBER #2: Are you sure? He was supposed to be dead the first AGENT DEVLIN: Well, he wasn't wearing a bullet-proof vest this time, so, yeah, AGENT DEVLIN (CONT'D O/S): There were a few complications, though. HOSPITAL SF: Fire alarm. We need to move him. HOSPITAL SF: We're going to have to ask you to wait here, sir. COMMITTEE MEMBER #3 (V/O): Secondary casualties are not our concern. COMMITTEE MEMBER #3 (CONT'D): Major Davis can answer for those as well. STARGATE SG-1--“SMOKE & MIRRORS” Episode#P662
COMMITTEE MEMBER #1: We still have a loose end. They have Dr. Langham in COMMITTEE MEMBER #3: That's not important. His accusations will be little COMMITTEE MEMBER #3 (CONT'D O/S): Instead of worrying about him, I COMMITTEE MEMBER #3 (CONT'D): the mimic devices to eliminate another COMMITTEE MEMBER #3: General Hammond. Once he's out of the way, we can replace him with someone more sympathetic to our concerns. AGENT DEVLIN: If they know about the devices, they'll be prepared for COMMITTEE MEMBER #2: Devlin's right. Besides, now that Kinsey's dead, we COMMITTEE MEMBER #1: I think it's time we sent someone to talk to Hammond, STARGATE SG-1--“SMOKE & MIRRORS” Episode#P662
COMMITTEE MEMBER #1 (CONT'D): get him to reconsider those retirement COMMITTEE MEMBER #3: He doesn't seem like the type to bow to outside COMMITTEE MEMBER #2: Well, then, we are going to have to be very COMMITTEE MEMBER #2 (O/S): Agent Devlin, I would like you. COMMITTEE MEMBER #2 (CONT'D): to pay General Hammond a visit. Impress upon him our concerns for the safety and well-being of his family. AGENT DEVLIN: And if he still refuses to play ball? CARTER: General Hammond sends his regards. AGENT BARRETT: All right, get your hands up. Come on, get them up. CARTER: The hologram lasted six and a half minutes. That's a new record for us. STARGATE SG-1--“SMOKE & MIRRORS” Episode#P662
AGENT BARRETT: What makes you think I was going to come in here before you CARTER: When you work with someone, you just know. KINSEY (CONT'D): Colonel O'Neill. Glad you could make it. KINSEY: I just thought we should have a little chat before we meet the press. O'NEILL: Did you need to gloat a little? KINSEY (CHUCKLING): Oh, don't be that way, Jack. You need this as much as I KINSEY (CONT'D O/S): The only way you're going to get public vindication. KINSEY (CONT'D): is if the two of us appear on the 6:00 news shaking hands. STARGATE SG-1--“SMOKE & MIRRORS” Episode#P662
O'NEILL: Yeah.I'm not sure it's worth it. KINSEY: The American people don't want their Air Force officers to be assassins, Jack. They want them to be heroes. I'm going to make you a hero. KINSEY: First of all, I want to apologize to you and to the American people for the KINSEY (CONT'D): untimely demise. It was an unfortunate but necessary final step in my investigation of certain anti-democratic forces. KINSEY (CONT'D O/S): that had taken root in several key government agencies.
