ASHWAGANDHA: (Withinnia somnifera) is an Indian herb that is also known as
Winter Cherry and “Indian ginseng”. Ashwagandha plays an important role in Indian
medicine because it is believed to combat the effects of stress and ageing and increase
longevity and vitality. The therapeutic value of Ashwagandha is attributed to a class of compounds known as withanolides. Withanolides calm and relax the body during periods of stress. Along with its calming properties studies have also found that Ashwagandha extract also exerts a testosterone-like effect, which improves sex drive (libido). Withania somnifera monograph : Withania somnifera, also known as withania
somnifera, Indian ginseng, or winter cherry, has been an important herb in the Ayurvedic
and indigenous medical systems for over 3000 years. Historically, the plant has been used
as an aphrodisiac, liver tonic, anti-inflammatory agent, and more recently to treat
asthama, ulcers, insomnia, and senile dementia. Clinical trials and animal research
support the use of Withania Somnifera for anxiety, cognitive and neurological disorders,
inflammation, and Parkinsons’s disease. Withania Somnifera’s chemopreventive
properties make it a potentially useful adjunct for patients undergoing radiation and
chemotherapy. Ashwagandha is also used therapeutically as an adpatogen for patients
with nervous exhaustion, and debility due to stress, and as an immune stimulant in
patients with low white blood cell counts.

herb, withania somnifera. Ashwagandhanolide nervous system (SF-268), colon (HCT-

lipid peroxidation and the activity of the enzyme cyclooxygenase-2 in vitro.
Aphrodisiac properties of withania somniferania somnifera is historically used as an aphrodisiac. Withania somnifera is mentioned in the ancient Kama Sutra as an herb to be used for heightening sexual experience, Laboratory studies show withania somnifera can produce nitric oxide which is known to dilate blood vessels. Withania somnifera has the ability to restore sexual heath and improve overall vitality while promoting a calm state of mind. I have included a withania somnifera extract in a libido product called Passion. Rx. For more information on Ashwagandha. Withania Somnifera: a mood Enhancing and anti-anxiety Herb The roots of Withania Somnifera are used extensively in Ayurveda, the classical Indian system of medicine, and withania Somnifera is categorized as a rasayana, which are used to promote physical and mental health, to provide defense against disease abd adverse environmental factors and to slow the aging process. In rodent studies Withania Somnifera has been shown to reduce anxiety and have positive effect on mood. SAFED MUSLI
Safed Musli is a medicinal plant that has been used as an aphrodisiac and stimulant for male sexual performance in traditional Asian medicine for many centuries. It is rich source of over 25 alkaloids, vitamins, minerals, proteins, carbohydrates, steroid, saponins and polysaccharides. The main elements that make Safed Musli rich as a medicinal herb are the saponins and alkaloids present in it. Stigma sterol, a type of steroidal saponins, is the key element of Safed Musli. These saponins are similar in structure to the hormones corticosteroids and testosterone. Stigma sterol improves the production of these hormones in the body thus sustaining a physiological balance or homeostasis in the body. SHILAJIT
The active principle of shilajit is fulvic acid. Shilajit helps accelerate processes of protein and nrauclei acid metabolism and stimulates energy providing reactions. Shilajit is known Aphrodisiac, very powerful in healing and types of Sexual Debility. Shilajit effectively increases the fertility actively and increases the live cells count in male reproductive hormones. Piperine: Piperine, the main alkaloid from black pepper has been shown to substantially the bioavailability of the ingredients. Piperine is able to increase bioavailability of many substances through a number of mechanisms. It inhibits several enzymes responsible for metabolizing nutritional substances, stimulates amino-acid transporters in the intestinal lining, inhibits removal of substances from cells so they continue to be available for use and decreases the intestinal activity allowing more of the substances to enter the body in active form. The results of these actions are that substances reach, enter and remain within their target cells for longer periods of time than would normally be the case. Piperine can turn a marginally effective therapeutic substance into a highly effective one by increasing its bioavailability and intracellular residency time. In developing tropical countries, Moringa trees have been used to combat malnutrition, especially among infants and nursing mothers. Three non-governmental organizations in particular - Trees for Life, Church World Service and Educational Concerns for Hunger Organization - advocate Moringa as “natural nutrition for the tropics.” Leaves can be eaten fresh, cooked, or stored as dried powder for many months without refrigeration, and without loss of nutritional value. Moringa is especially promising as a food source in the tropics because the tree is in full leaf at the end of the dry season when other foods are typically scarce. Analyses of the leaf composition have revealed them to have significant quantities of vitamins A, B and C, calcium, iron and protein. According to Optima of Africa, Ltd., a group that has been working with the tree in Tanzania, "25 grams daily of Moringa Leaf Powder will give a child" the following recommended daily allowances: Protein 42%, Calcium 125%, Magnesium 61%, Potassium 41%, Iron 71%, Vitamin A 272%, and Vitamin C 22%. These numbers are particularly astounding; considering this nutrition is available when other food sources may be scarce. Scientific research confirms that these humble leaves are a powerhouse of nutritional value. Gram for gram, Moringa leaves contain: SEVEN times the vitamin C in oranges, FOUR times the Calcium in milk, FOUR times the vitamin A in carrots, TWO times the protein in milk and THREE times the Potassium in bananas. The Moringa tree has great use medicinally both as preventative and treatment. Much of the evidence is anecdotal as there has been little actual scientific research done to support these claims. India's ancient tradition of ayurveda says the leaves of the Moringa tree prevent 300 diseases. One area in which there has been significant scientific research is the reported antibiotic activity of this tree.
