Cotag from Indala—a new generation of patented Hands-Free
radio frequency identification (RFID) technology offering
unparalleled user convenience and security.
Indala introduces a new line of active cards and tags for a variety of applications—the 928 Hands-
Free access card and the 911 Hands-Free keyring. Both are designed to complement the entire line
of Cotag Hands-Free long-range readers. Each Hands-Free Active Card or Tag performs as an active
transponder, with an encapsulated miniature transceiver and antenna that responds to a specified
signal from the reader. The Hands-Free alternative uses the active transponder to provide higher
return signal levels, which dramatically increases the effective read range up to 40” (one meter).
This level of performance transforms the entire access transaction. Access is now validated as the
user approaches the door, even with the card remaining in a pocket or bag. If the cardholder is
required to use the card as an ID badge for visual identification purposes, it may be carried in any
of the normal positions—lapel, belt or around the neck—and automatically read at a control point,
without any conscious user action. This makes active cards and tags ideal for healthcare or factory
settings where rapid, secure access to facilities is a necessity.
The 928 Indala Cotag Card is a small transponder the size of a credit card, which contains a custom microchip that controls its operation. A long-life lithium cell ensures a strong signal output. A total of 63 bits are available for data storage.
The 911 Indala Keyring Tag is an ideal alternative to the 928 Indala Cotag Card for applications where its robust construction is more appropriate. The 911 Keyring is encapsulated within a black polycarbonate case designed for a keyring or other attachment. It can be used with all Indala Cotag reading heads and Cotag loops. A custom microchip controls its operation, and a long-life lithium cell supports the memory and ensures a strong output signal during interrogation.
The technology you expect from the worldwide leader in access control.
Cotag Hands-Free Technology is not just state-of-the-art; it is also reliable and cost effective. Each card or tag is powered by a long-life power cell, guaranteed for up to fi ve years and typically returning a 7-10 year service life.
