This year, the focus of the most significant Short Film Festival in Switzerland wil be on the importance of the short film as an interface between art and cinema. With an exciting programme around the topic of Video Art and filming artists, Switzerland’s most significant Short Film Festival picks up a current subject from the world of short films. The contest with its promising participants, and the interesting offers for short film professionals make this festival to a central platform of the Swiss short film industry. The special programme furthermore introduces animalistic short films, works from Central Asia as wel as zombie and trash films. FOKUS ON SHORT FILM AS AN INTERFACE BETWEEN ART AN CINEMA
A lively exchange between art and cinematic narratives has taken place in the past few years. Prosperous artists such as Pipilotti Rist or Sam Taylor Wood create thriving feature films. In the same time the playful way of dealing with the conventions of feature films and documentaries in the world Video Art catches the public’s eye. The main emphasis of this year’s programme will pick up different aspects of this phenomenon. FURTHER HIGHLIGHTS OF THE PROGRAMME
Main emphasis Central Asia: Short films from Central Asia and two important Funding Organizations of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan will be at the centre of attention. The animal and us: The Short Film Festival dedicates a part of the programme to the animalistic side of short films and tracks down the inscrutable relationship between men and animals. Retrospective Ran Slavin: The film artist Ran Slavin has arranged in a process of several years individual short films related to the ful -length thriller Insomniac City Cycles. Additional y to this impressive work, a 45 minutes long life per- formance with Slavin wil be presented. Zombie and Trash Night: A creepy nocturne covering al from films about the tombs of the undead, to films bordering bad taste and a Zombie-Party at the Kraftfeld Winterthur. Swiss Film School day: The six most important Film Schools wil introduce their selves on 11th of November present- ing one short film programme each. 2nd Producers’ Day: Producers and filmmakers wil meet during a varied programme. The morning wil offer time for the exchange of ideas and thoughts between producers and filmmakers. The afternoon wil be dedicated to various prominently staffed podiums around the topic of short film promotion and distribution on the internet.
