**PLEASE READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS AT LEAST 48 HOURS PRIOR TO TEST TO ENSURE INSTRUCTIONS
ARE FOLLOWED PROPERLY. Failure to do so could result in cancellation and a $75 charge. If you are
having multiple tests scheduled, THESE INSTRUCTIONS TAKE PRECEDENT.

1. Please arrive on time. Patients arriving more than 15 minutes late will be rescheduled.
2. Remember your referral
if your insurance carrier requires one. If any portion of this test is not covered
by your insurance or a copay is due, you may receive a balance bill from our Billing Department. 3. DO NOT TAKE THE FOLLOWING MEDICATIONS 48 HOURS PRIOR TO THE TIME OF YOUR
APPOINTMENT:
Anti-Dizzy and
Anti-Nausea medication (e.g.
Antivert, Meclizine,
Scopolamine, Phenergan)
Antihistamines and Decongestants (e.g. Claritin, Zyrtec, Allegra, Benadryl)
Nasal Sprays
Muscle Relaxants
Sleeping Pills, Sedatives or other Barbiturates
Tranquilizers (e.g. Valium, Ativan, Xanax)
Anti-Depressants (e.g. Zoloft)
Quinine or Aspirin
4. NO CAFFEINATED beverages on the day of the test. No coffee, tea, cocoa, cola
5. NO FOOD or DRINK for 4 hours prior to testing.
6. NO ALCOHOL for 48 hours prior to testing.
7. NO MAKEUP, LOTIONS, MOISTURIZERS on your face, especially around the eyes. Lipstick is OK.
8. NO PERFUME OR COLOGNE.
9. NO CONTACT LENSES OR GLASSES during the test.
10. WOMEN will be more comfortable if they DO NOT WEAR A SKIRT/DRESS.

VNG stands for “videonystagmography.” This study takes about 1 hour, during which the patient wears special
goggles. This test studies inner ear function by watching eye movements. The last part of the exam will involve
blowing cool and warm air into the ear canals. The cooling and warming effect on the inner ear may make you
dizzy. This is NORMAL and TEMPORARY. You will be able to drive after the test if you were able to drive before
the test.
Payment and Cancellation Policy

***Important: If you are unable to make your scheduled appointment, please give us at least 48 hours notice. Due
to the time required for this testing, we find it necessary to charge $75 for patients who cancel with less than 48
hours notice or who fail to show up for their scheduled appointment. Patients arriving more than 15 minutes late
will be rescheduled. Cancellation of two appointments without adequate notice or failure to show up will result in
the above charges. The outstanding fees will need to be prepaid by the patient prior to testing.

Monday-Friday, 8:15 AM – 4 PM.
